One Voice Board of Directors
Roth is a retired trial and business lawyer. He has represented and served on several nonprofit boards. He was one of the founders of Advocates for Human Rights and the Center for Victims of Torture and served on their boards and executive committees. He has also taught courses on labor law and mediation at the University of Miami Law School and Hamline University Law School He is a writer and activist on human rights and foreign policy issues at JMVR Inc. In his earlier life, he was a professional drummer (non-singing). He received his B.A. in English and his J.D. from the University of Minnesota.
James has been an event planner with Stagetime Productions since 2003, working primarily on non-profit organization fundraisers. He earned his Associate Bachelors Degree in advertising design and marketing in 1995. He has been a singer with One Voice Mixed Chorus since 2006. James has also been a 5th Section member over that time as well, involved with everything from website design/maintenance, graphic design, involvement with marketing committee and many One Voice fundraisers to currently being the chair for Showtune Showdown two years in a row. Music has always been a part of his life and One Voice is now a part of his family and community.
Lee Silverstein is an accountant with several nonprofit and for-profit businesses, and has served on several nonprofit boards and serves as the treasurer of the One Voice Mixed Chorus Board of Directors. His exercise program is walking his 10 year old Coon Hound Mix dog and reviewing theater for the Ivey Awards.
Sarah Cohn is Principal Consultant and co-owner of Aurora Consulting. She is focused primarily on evaluation, strategic planning, and organizational leadership development. She is the President of the Minnesota Evaluation Association, the President-Elect for the Committee on Audience Research and Evaluation at AAM, and a past board member and Association Manager for the Visitor Studies Association. Sarah co-developed Team-Based Inquiry, a practitioner-focused form of evaluation. Since 2012, Sarah has been training various organizations to integrate Team-Based Inquiry into their development processes. Sarah worked at The Science Museum of Minnesota for nine years. She left the museum to engage more organizations in audience research, evaluation, facilitation, and strategic planning in 2016. Sarah has supported the work of a variety of organizations, from the Detroit Zoological Society and the Natural History Museum of Utah to University of St. Thomas’ Center for Pre-Collegiate Engineering Education and the Minnesota State Arts Board.
Katrina Johnson majored in transportation geography and works for Metro Transit giving transit information to her customers over the phone. She was previously a self-employed building contractor. She has sung in choirs since she was 5 and she has been a Tenor in One Voice since 2000. She sang with OVation from 2007 to 2010 and worked on the production committee for about 10 years. She is active in her church and church choir and loves to travel with her wife.
Halvorson has extensive nonprofit and for-profit business management experience and has served on several nonprofit boards of directors. He is a singer with One Voice Mixed Chorus and is self-employed as a mortgage broker. He holds a PhD in Economics from The American University in Washington, D.C. and an BA in Communications, Psychology, Peace Studies and Social Change from Augsburg College.
Abbey Martin is a designer and musician, currently living in South Minneapolis. She was raised in the nonprofit sector and is an active volunteer. Abbey received her BA in Communication from Beloit College and is a Stillwater native. She also sings alto in One Voice Mixed Chorus.
Jim Larsen is a Senior Consultant with CliftonLarsonAllen. Professionally, Jim spent over 20 years working for Cargill, Inc. in a number of different capacities, including positions in accounting and finance, information technology, global internal audit, and human resources. In his current role, he works with clients on internal audit, risk assessment, and financial controls. His non-profit board experience includes Beta Alpha Psi (international accounting honor fraternity), Theater in the Round, St David's Episcopal Parish, The Accounting Advisory Committee at the University of Texas, and the Bisexual Organizing Project. He has worked with a number of non-profit and for profit organizations in the area of strategic planning. For two years, he was the Finance and Operations Director at OutFront Minnesota. Jim is the proud father of two and grandfather of two.
Colleen Watson is one of the founding members of One Voice Mixed Chorus, active as a volunteer when not singing. Colleen is recently retired, having sold her successful employment service business. She now teaches marketing at Augsburg College, her alma mater, and serves as a docent at the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
